This is part of a new, innovative 1-year programme funded by NPS to provide enhanced support to vulnerable foreign national women who appear as defendants at Westminster Magistrate’s Court. The service is a partnership between Hibiscus and NPS London Division and is aligned with and will further the aims of the female offender strategy to contribute to a reduction in the use of custodial outcomes for women appearing at Westminster Magistrate’s Court.
Salary: £22,950 – £27,030 pro-rata
Duration: One year (with possible extension subject to funding)
Hours: 17.5 hours
Location: Westminster Magistrates Court and Hibiscus Head Office. There may be a requirement to travel across London
To work closely with National probation Service (NPS) London Division and all main stakeholders including NPS staff, Court staff, duty solicitors, custody officers, court ushers, mental health team based in court and interpreters to improve outcomes for vulnerable foreign national women, especially from minority community such as the Roma community, appearing in Westminster Magistrates Court and to support the pre-sentence report writing process.
To work holistically with the women providing language support, information to enable them to understand their situation and court processes. You will also aim to ensure that the court takes a problem solving approach that addresses vulnerability, gender and precarious immigration status and so achieve the best possible outcome for the women.
