We are excited to recruit for a motivated, empathetic, well-organised and resilient individual to join us as Cultural Mediation Project Worker in the Community team in London. Our community team provides holistic, trauma-informed and gender-responsive support to women affected by insecure immigration status, involvement in the criminal justice system, and survivors of trafficking.
We are interested in applications from candidates who are passionate about the rights of migrant women and survivors of trafficking. You will need significant understanding of a relevant culture (including social and gender norms and cultural practices) and language skills, preferably Albanian, Romanian and/or Roma communities.
The successful candidate will help provide vital support to women who are among the most vulnerable and marginalised groups in society. You will provide one-to-one support, advocacy, advice and guidance, empowering women to overcome the barriers they face and move forward with their lives. You will be working collaboratively with various agencies to care for and support women’s needs, acting as a cultural mediator to bridge the gap between women and the UK systems and professionals they interact with.
As an organisation working on racial and gender justice and migrants’ rights, Hibiscus is particularly keen to attract talent from minoritised communities and those with lived experience of immigration restrictions, the criminal justice systems, or gender-based violence.
We are committed to the wellbeing and development of our staff. We provide regular training and other learning opportunities and offer wellbeing classes and activities, clinical supervision, an Employee Assistance Program and other benefits to support staff wellbeing.
Please note this post is restricted to women only as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 paragraph 1, Equality Act 2010.
