I will definitely keep in touch you have been so amazing” (Client who moved to Brazil)
Our primary concern is to support those in Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs), offering returns and resettlement assistance to those who are actively interested in returning to their country. A part of our service is also focused on assisting our clients with practical and emotional support throughout their stay in detention. The prospect of having to leave the UK, along with the uncertainty that being in detention brings, leads to many of our clients being traumatised, scared and vulnerable. Significant numbers are unable to speak English or understand the UK immigration system. In delivering our services in the IRCs we provide advice and guidance to clients ensuring they are in a more stable and positive position upon returning to their country. We work alongside statutory and charitable agencies to find the best possible outcome for the clients, and signpost those wishing to challenge their case to services that can assist them. Offering trauma-informed emotional support runs throughout our resettlement work and helps to ease our client’s transition from the UK, assisting them towards a dignified return.
“The welfare services were impressive and there was positive engagement with third sector groups, including the charity Hibiscus Initiatives which provided support to many detainees before release or removal.”
