From Report on an unannounced inspection of HMP & YOI Peterborough (Women) by HM Chief Inspector of Prisons:
Sixty-six foreign national women were held in the prison, including two women who had come to the end of their sentences and were due to be deported. Provision for foreign national women was good and external immigration and deportation support workers attended the prison regularly. Records showed that prison staff consistently made use of a translation service. Consultation arrangements were good and a foreign national diversity inclusion representative had been appointed. Advocacy and support charity Hibiscus provided external support, which women spoke highly of.
Two trafficked women had been released into safe accommodation in the previous six months following a referral to the national referral mechanism (a government process for identifying and supporting victims of trafficking). The work was supported by advocacy and support charity Hibiscus.
Nice work prisons team!
